Monticello Woman Dies After Single-Vehicle Crash Into Light Pole in Verona

VERONA, Wis. — Authorities have identified the woman who died following a single-vehicle crash in Verona earlier this week, a tragic incident that unfolded in the middle of the afternoon and ended with a life lost at the hospital. The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the victim as Elise M. Constantini, 48, of Monticello, whose death has deeply impacted her family and the surrounding community.

The crash was reported at approximately 2:58 p.m. on Monday along American Way near Batker Court, according to the Verona Police Department. Officers and emergency crews were dispatched after receiving reports that a vehicle had left the roadway. When responders arrived, they found a damaged vehicle that had struck a light pole near the intersection, drawing immediate concern for the driver’s condition.

Lt. Dustin Fehrmann of the Verona Police Department said Constantini was the only person inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Preliminary information indicates the car traveled off the road before colliding with the light pole. No other vehicles were involved, and there were no additional injuries reported in connection with the incident.

First responders quickly began providing medical care to Constantini at the scene. Due to the seriousness of her injuries, she was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Despite the efforts of emergency personnel and hospital staff, Constantini later died from injuries sustained in the crash, officials said.

Preliminary autopsy results released by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office show that Constantini’s death was caused by injuries suffered during the collision. Officials noted that additional testing, including further medical and toxicology analysis, is still underway. Those results may provide more insight into whether factors such as a medical emergency, speed, or road conditions played a role.

The Verona Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officers are reviewing evidence from the scene and awaiting the final autopsy findings before reaching any conclusions. No citations or contributing causes have been announced at this time. As the investigation continues, authorities are reminding drivers to remain attentive and cautious on the road. Meanwhile, family members and loved ones are left mourning the sudden loss of Elise M. Constantini, whose life was cut short in a heartbreaking accident.
