MILLSBORO, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating a tragic two-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a Millsboro man Friday afternoon, November 7, 2025, marking the second fatal crash in Sussex County that same day. The devastating incident has left family members and neighbors mourning the loss of 76-year-old Peter Roskowski, whose life ended suddenly on a familiar stretch of road.
According to investigators, the crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. along John J. Williams Highway near Layton Davis Road. Preliminary findings indicate that Roskowski was driving a westbound Dodge Ram when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle crossed the center line and collided with the front left side of an eastbound Ford box truck. The impact left both vehicles heavily damaged and scattered debris across the roadway.
Emergency crews from the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, along with paramedics and Delaware State Police troopers, responded quickly to the scene. Despite their efforts, Roskowski was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. The driver of the Ford truck, identified as a 63-year-old man from Cape Coral, Florida, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
