Bloomfield Woman Sabria Hardy Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Enfield

ENFIELD, Conn. — A winter storm brought tragic consequences Monday afternoon when a Bloomfield woman lost her life in a crash on Interstate 91 in Enfield, according to Connecticut State Police. The crash happened as the state was struggling through heavy snowfall, making road conditions dangerous for drivers.

State police identified the victim as 38-year-old Sabria B. Hardy of Bloomfield. The crash occurred around 2:40 p.m. on Interstate 91 southbound near Exit 46. At the time, Connecticut was buried under more than a foot of snow, creating slick roads and reduced visibility across the area.

According to a state police report, two vehicles — a 2021 Acura ILX and Hardy’s 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander — were stopped in a lane of I-91 south due to a previous crash. Investigators said they were not able to determine exactly which lane the vehicles were stopped in. Traffic in the area was already impacted as drivers slowed down to navigate the snowy conditions.

While the vehicles were stopped, Hardy was seated as a passenger inside the Acura. Police said a third vehicle, a 2025 Jeep Compass, was traveling in the center lane when it struck the rear of the Acura. The impact caused serious injuries to Hardy and further damaged the vehicles involved in the crash.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and provided aid before Hardy was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, she later died from her injuries. No other serious injuries have been reported, and police have not released information about the drivers of the other vehicles involved.

State police continue to investigate the crash, including the role weather and road conditions may have played. Authorities are reminding drivers to use extreme caution during winter storms, slow down, and leave plenty of distance between vehicles. The crash stands as a painful reminder of how quickly conditions on the road can turn deadly during severe weather.
