85-year-old Floyd Landers killed in Two-Car Crash on City Street in Anderson

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. — A Monday evening crash in Anderson County has claimed the life of an 85-year-old man, according to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office. The incident happened at a busy city intersection and left first responders racing to save a life that was later lost at the hospital.

Authorities said Anderson County 911 received a call around 6:15 p.m. reporting a two-car crash at the intersection of Sayre Street and South Murray Avenue. Emergency crews were quickly sent to the scene, where they found significant damage and one person suffering from serious injuries.

The victim was identified as Floyd Eugene Landers of Anderson. Responders treated Landers at the scene before transporting him to AnMed Medical Center for further care. Despite medical efforts, Landers later died at the hospital as a result of his injuries.

The coroner’s office confirmed that Landers died from blunt chest trauma caused by the crash. His death has been ruled accidental, meaning investigators do not believe criminal activity played a role in the collision. Officials also noted that Landers was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
