ROANOKE, Va. — A late-night argument under the Tazewell Bridge ended in tragedy, leaving a 24-year-old man dead and another facing a murder charge. The Roanoke Police Department announced that Samuel Peitit Davis, 49, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred on January 20.
Police said officers were called to the 300 block of Tazewell Avenue SE around 9 p.m. after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found Erick Telsaint, 24, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, Telsaint was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators noted that Telsaint had no fixed address.
Authorities said officers were able to quickly locate a suspect nearby. Davis was taken into custody without incident and later charged in connection with the shooting. Police did not say whether a weapon was recovered, but confirmed that the case remains under active investigation.
Early findings suggest the violence began with a confrontation beneath the bridge. According to police, Telsaint was walking in the area when he became involved in a verbal argument with Davis.
