Three Hammond Residents Killed in Fiery Single-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10

PORT ALLEN, La. — Three young residents of Hammond lost their lives early Sunday morning in a devastating single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in West Baton Rouge Parish, according to Louisiana State Police. The deadly wreck occurred shortly before 4 a.m. on I-10 eastbound near milepost 144 and left authorities investigating what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.

Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to the scene after receiving reports of a serious crash involving a passenger vehicle. When they arrived, they discovered a vehicle that had crashed into the center median and was fully engulfed in flames. All three occupants inside the car were pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash and subsequent fire.

The victims were identified as 20-year-old Kelvanisha Stanley, 19-year-old Kareem Felder, and 20-year-old Jacoby Brumfield, all of Hammond, Louisiana. State police confirmed that Stanley was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. The sudden loss of three young lives has sent shockwaves through the Hammond community, where family members and friends are now mourning the tragedy.

According to the preliminary investigation, Stanley was driving a 2025 Kia K4 eastbound in the right lane of Interstate 10. For reasons that remain under investigation, the vehicle crossed the left lane, entered the center median, and struck several trees. The violent impact caused the car to catch fire, quickly becoming fully engulfed in flames.

Troopers said the stretch of interstate was closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene and crews worked to clear the wreckage. The fire damage made the investigation more complex, and officials have not yet released information regarding seatbelt use, speed, or whether impairment may have been a factor in the crash.

Louisiana State Police said the investigation is ongoing as troopers work to determine the exact circumstances that led to the deadly crash. Authorities are reminding drivers to always wear seatbelts, obey speed limits, and avoid distractions behind the wheel. As the investigation continues, loved ones are left grieving the heartbreaking loss of three young lives taken far too soon in a tragic early-morning crash.
