Wesley Bolden & Jordan Hall killed in Deadly Small Plane Crash Near Mississippi Airport

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Authorities have identified the two people killed in a small airplane crash Sunday evening near the Holly Springs–Marshall County Airport in northern Mississippi. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the victims as Wesley Bolden, 29, of Marshall County, and Jordan Hall, 17, of Olive Branch, Mississippi. The tragic crash has left the local community searching for answers as investigators work to determine what went wrong.

According to Sheriff Kenny Dickerson, the crash happened around 5 p.m. near the south end of the Holly Springs–Marshall County Airport, located at 171 A.Q. Greer Road. Officials said the plane went down in a wooded area east of the runway, just moments before or after approaching the airport. The exact circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear.

Deputies arrived at the scene within minutes and found a small airplane fully engulfed in flames. Due to the intensity of the fire, authorities said they were initially unable to determine the type of aircraft involved. Multiple fire departments were called in to battle the blaze and assist with securing the area as thick smoke rose from the wooded crash site.

Once the fire was brought under control, authorities confirmed that two people were found deceased at the scene. Investigators worked carefully around the wreckage as crews continued to cool hot spots and ensure the area was safe. The identities of the victims were later released after notification of their families.

Officials have not yet said where the airplane was headed, what caused it to crash, or whether mechanical issues or weather conditions played a role. Sheriff’s officials emphasized that many questions remain unanswered, including the flight’s origin and purpose. At this time, no additional injuries were reported.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department has contacted federal authorities, including aviation investigators, to assist with the case. According to Lt. Colonel David Cook, the sheriff’s office is securing the scene until those agencies arrive and take over the investigation. As the community mourns the loss of two young lives, officials are asking for patience as a full investigation is conducted to determine what led to the deadly crash.
