Authorities in Wilson County are investigating a tragic domestic-related incident that claimed the life of 34-year-old Jessica Arita on the night of November 5, 2025. The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a residence in the 3400 block of Hunters Point Pike around 9:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers discovered two young children outside the home, unharmed but visibly distraught, and were told their parents remained inside.
Deputies immediately worked to secure the area and ensure the safety of the children before attempting to make contact with those inside. According to investigators, the suspect—believed to be Arita’s former husband—had barricaded himself inside a bedroom. Deputies tried to de-escalate the situation, but when no response came, they forced entry. Inside, they found the suspect and Ms. Arita unresponsive from injuries believed to have been caused by a sharp object. Despite efforts to render aid, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wilson County Sheriff’s Capt. Scott Moore confirmed that the case is being investigated as a domestic-related homicide. While the suspect’s name has not yet been publicly released, authorities have secured the scene and are gathering evidence to determine what led to the violent confrontation. Investigators are also working to confirm the events leading up to the incident, including whether there were any previous domestic disputes or warning signs.
Officials said the two children are safe and have since been placed under the care of relatives with assistance from the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. Authorities are also ensuring that the children receive emotional support and counseling following the traumatic event. Capt. Moore extended condolences to the family, calling the situation “deeply saddening for everyone involved.” He added, “Our hearts go out to the family, and our focus now is on ensuring the children are cared for and that justice is served.”
Neighbors described the Hunters Point Pike neighborhood as quiet and close-knit, saying such violence is rare in the area. Sheriff’s deputies worked late into the night processing the scene, collecting forensic evidence, and interviewing witnesses. Officials confirmed that once the investigation concludes, all findings will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for review and potential charges.
Authorities also took the opportunity to remind residents that help is available for those experiencing domestic abuse. Local shelters, counseling services, and national hotlines operate around the clock to provide support and protection. Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office. Officials assured the public that there is no ongoing threat and that the situation remains fully contained.
