42-year-old Markeith Miller Killed in Early Morning Two-Vehicle Crash in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A tragic early morning crash on Old Hickory Boulevard claimed the life of a front-seat passenger Friday, according to authorities. The deadly collision happened at the intersection of Old Hickory Boulevard and Zermatt Avenue, drawing emergency crews to the scene as investigators worked to determine what led to the crash.

Preliminary findings indicate the crash occurred when a 2005 Lincoln Grand Marquis was traveling westbound on Old Hickory Boulevard. Police say the driver, 38-year-old Katera Johnson, attempted to make a left turn at the intersection. During that turn, the vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a 2019 Honda Accord that was traveling through the intersection.

The impact caused the Lincoln Grand Marquis to overturn, trapping the passenger inside. The front-seat passenger, identified as 42-year-old Markeith Miller, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Despite emergency response efforts, Miller was pronounced dead at the scene. His death marks another devastating traffic fatality on Nashville roadways.

Johnson, the driver of the Grand Marquis, was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities said she was conscious following the crash and is expected to recover. Her condition has not been updated, and no charges have been announced at this time.

The driver of the Honda Accord was identified as 25-year-old Eddie McGee. He was also taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not said how fast either vehicle was traveling at the time of the crash or whether traffic signals or right-of-way played a role.

The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to determine the exact cause of the collision. Authorities say they are still reviewing evidence to establish whether speed, impairment, or other contributing factors were involved. No further details have been released, and police have not indicated whether charges may be filed.

Officials are reminding drivers to exercise caution at intersections, especially during early morning hours when visibility can be reduced and traffic patterns may be unpredictable. As investigators continue their work, the Nashville community is left mourning the loss of Markeith Miller while awaiting answers about the circumstances that led to this deadly crash.
