41-year-old India Davis Found Shot Dead Inside Vehicle on Adams Avenue in Macon

MACON, Ga. — Authorities have identified the woman found shot to death inside a vehicle Thursday afternoon on Adams Avenue in Macon. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones confirmed the victim as 41-year-old India Norwood Davis, adding that her family has been notified of her death. The shooting has prompted an active investigation by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched to the 2100 block of Adams Avenue just before 4 p.m. on Thursday after receiving a report of a shooting. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found an adult female inside a vehicle suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite emergency response efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Earlier Thursday afternoon, Coroner Leon Jones told local media that his office was responding to a report of a person with a gunshot wound in the area. At that time, officials had not yet confirmed whether the victim had died or released identifying information. The location of the shooting is near the intersection of Pio Nono Avenue and Anthony Road, an area that saw a noticeable law enforcement presence as investigators worked the scene.

By early evening, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death and stated the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not released information regarding a possible suspect, motive, or the circumstances leading up to the shooting. It is also unclear whether the victim was targeted or if the incident may have been random.

Investigators were seen examining the vehicle and surrounding area for evidence, while deputies secured the scene. No additional injuries were reported, and officials have not said whether any weapons were recovered.
