CHICAGO — Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that left one man dead and two others injured Wednesday night in the Morgan Park neighborhood on Chicago’s Far South Side. The violent incident unfolded on a residential block, prompting a heavy police response as detectives worked to gather evidence and determine what led up to the gunfire.
According to Chicago police, the shooting occurred around 8:40 p.m. in the 11000 block of South Longwood Drive. Officers responding to reports of shots fired arrived to find three adult men suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical crews were called to the scene to provide aid before transporting the victims to area hospitals.
One of the victims, identified as Vincent Quindon, 28, was shot in the lower back. Police said he was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for treatment. Despite efforts by medical staff, Quindon later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, according to both police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A second man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to various parts of his body. He was taken to the same hospital, where he remained in critical condition as of the latest update from authorities. A third victim, also 28 years old, was shot in the left foot. Police said he was hospitalized in good condition and is expected to recover.
Investigators have not released details about what may have sparked the shooting or whether the victims were targeted. No arrests have been announced, and authorities said no suspects were in custody as of Thursday.
