Lee Krogh killed in Fatal Tiffin Shooting as Johnson County Investigation Continues

JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa — Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a fatal shooting in Tiffin over the weekend, as investigators continue working to determine what led to the deadly incident. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the victim was 57-year-old Lee Earl Krogh of Iowa City. Officials say the investigation remains active, and few details have been released as detectives continue their work.

The shooting occurred on Saturday morning, January 10, 2026, at approximately 11:44 a.m. Deputies were dispatched to a residence located at 445 Iris Court in Tiffin after receiving a report of a shooting. Multiple emergency units responded to the scene, including law enforcement officers and medical personnel.

When deputies arrived, they found Krogh outside the building suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency crews with the Johnson County Ambulance Service provided immediate medical assistance before transporting him to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Despite efforts by first responders and hospital staff, Krogh later died from his injuries.

At the time of the initial news release, the sheriff’s office withheld the victim’s identity while next of kin were being notified. On Monday, January 12, authorities officially identified Krogh as the victim. Investigators have not said whether Krogh lived at the Iris Court address or what his connection was to the location where the shooting occurred.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has stated that there is no ongoing threat to the public. Officials have not released information about possible suspects, a motive, or whether anyone has been taken into custody.
