Two Men Found Dead After Disturbance at Hillsboro Home

HILLSBORO, Ore. — Authorities in Hillsboro have identified the two men found dead following a disturbing incident at a home on Wednesday morning. According to the Hillsboro Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 1700 block of Northeast Sunrise Lane at around 9:40 a.m. after receiving reports of an altercation possibly involving a weapon.

When officers arrived, they discovered 29-year-old Braeden Leachman deceased inside the home. A second man, identified as 28-year-old Jefferson Brown, was later found in the backyard of the property, also dead. Investigators said the medical examiner has not yet released the official causes of death for either man. However, early findings indicate that the event was isolated to the residence, and there is no threat to the wider public. Police remained on the scene for several hours to collect evidence and interview witnesses.

Authorities have not yet revealed the relationship between the two men or what might have led to the confrontation. Neighbors told investigators that they heard shouting or commotion earlier that morning, prompting multiple calls to 911. Officers arrived quickly, securing the scene and ensuring that nearby residents were safe while detectives began their initial assessment.

The Hillsboro Police Department’s Major Crimes Team is leading the investigation. Detectives are examining evidence collected inside the home, reviewing nearby surveillance footage, and conducting forensic testing to better understand what occurred. The medical examiner’s report is expected to shed light on the timeline and nature of the events leading to the deaths.

Court records obtained by investigators reveal that Leachman had several pending criminal cases, including charges for second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, coercion, and fourth-degree assault. He was scheduled to appear in court on December 1. It remains unclear whether these legal matters played any role in Wednesday’s tragedy. Meanwhile, officials said Brown had no known criminal history as of the latest reports, though both men were known to each other in some capacity.

The incident has left the quiet Hillsboro neighborhood in shock. Residents expressed sadness over the loss of two young lives and concern about the circumstances surrounding the event. Police have extended condolences to the families of both men and are urging anyone with information to contact the Hillsboro Police Department.
