20-Year-Old Keilyn Parker killed, Another Injured in Early-Morning Clovis Shooting

A quiet Clovis neighborhood was shaken early Friday morning after a shooting inside a home left one young man dead and another injured. The incident, which unfolded just after midnight on January 2, 2026, has prompted an intensive investigation by the Clovis Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit as authorities work to determine exactly what happened.

According to the Clovis Police Department, dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 12:31 a.m. from a residence in the 2500 block of East 7th Street. The caller, a 20-year-old man, told dispatchers that he had been shot and that someone had broken into his home. He reported that he fired a gun during the incident and said he and a female were hiding inside a closet while waiting for help to arrive.

Clovis police officers and Emergency Medical Services responded quickly to the scene. The 20-year-old male caller was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was treated by first responders before being transported to Plains Regional Medical Center. Authorities have not released details about the extent of his injuries or his current condition.

Officers also located a second male inside the residence who had been shot. He was identified as Keilyn Parker, 20. Parker was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment, but despite lifesaving efforts, he did not survive his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, police confirmed.

Due to the seriousness of the incident and the loss of life, the Clovis Police Department activated its Major Crimes Unit to handle the investigation. Detectives are working to piece together the sequence of events, including the reported break-in, how the shooting unfolded, and the relationship between those involved. At this time, police have not said whether the shooting will be ruled as self-defense or if criminal charges are expected.
