Three Teens Killed in Violent Two-Vehicle Crash on North Federal Highway in Pompano Beach

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — A devastating two-vehicle crash Monday evening has claimed the lives of three teenagers, leaving families and the Pompano Beach community in mourning. The Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed that all three victims were pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital following the violent collision on North Federal Highway.

Authorities identified the victims as 18-year-old Richard Manuel Alcocer, 16-year-old Miguel Montez, and 15-year-old Ruben Baltazar. All three teens were transported to Broward Health North, where doctors attempted life-saving measures. Despite those efforts, each was pronounced dead due to the severe injuries they suffered in the crash.

The collision occurred just before 7 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Federal Highway. According to investigators, a 2024 Acura Integra, driven by Fabiola Groves, was exiting a shopping plaza near Northeast 18th Street. Deputies said Groves was making a right turn to head southbound on North Federal Highway when the crash unfolded.

At the same time, a 2014 white BMW M5 was already traveling southbound on the highway, driven by Richard Alcocer, with Montez and Baltazar as passengers. Investigators said the BMW struck a raised concrete median, causing Alcocer to lose control of the vehicle. The loss of control set off a catastrophic chain of events that would end in tragedy.

After hitting the median, the BMW collided with the Acura, then spun violently across multiple lanes of traffic. Deputies said the car jumped the curb on the west side of the roadway and slammed into a bus stop, before crashing into a concrete light pole and then a tree. The impact caused extensive damage to the vehicle and the surrounding area.

Investigators remain on the scene piecing together what led to the crash, including speed, road conditions, and other potential contributing factors. No further details about injuries to the Acura’s driver have been released at this time. Authorities continue to urge drivers to remain cautious, especially along busy roadways like North Federal Highway. As the investigation continues, loved ones remember the three young lives lost far too soon, and the community comes together to grieve a tragedy that has left a lasting and heartbreaking impact.
