22-year-old Luis Ares killed in fatal Oak Creek shooting

Police in Oak Creek are investigating a deadly shooting that took place early Monday morning, December 23, leaving a young man dead inside a vehicle. Authorities have confirmed the incident is being treated as a homicide, though they say there is no ongoing threat to the public.

According to the Oak Creek Police Department, emergency dispatchers received multiple reports of gunshots around 8:05 a.m. The calls came from the area near the 6400 block of South 20th Street. Officers were immediately sent to the scene to investigate the reports of gunfire in the neighborhood.

When officers arrived, they discovered a person inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders quickly attempted life-saving measures, but despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The area was secured as detectives began gathering evidence and interviewing possible witnesses.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the victim as Luis Antonio Ares, a 22-year-old man from West Allis. No additional details about his background or why he may have been in the area at the time of the shooting were released by authorities. His death has left family and friends grieving a life cut short.

Police stated that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and stressed that there is no danger to the public. In a news release issued around noon on December 23, officials asked residents to avoid the area while investigators remained on scene. Police vehicles and crime scene tape blocked off parts of the street for several hours as the investigation continued.

As of now, no one has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. Oak Creek police are asking anyone who may have seen or heard something related to the incident to come forward.
