Andraias Curry Found Shot dead in Vehicle in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the man found dead with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle early Sunday morning and has officially ruled his death a homicide. The victim was identified as Andraias Marquel Marshall Curry, 29. Authorities said his death marks the 35th homicide in Allen County this year, highlighting ongoing concerns about violent crime in the community.

According to a news release from the coroner’s office, Curry died from multiple gunshot wounds. Fort Wayne police said officers were called to the area near Fairfield Avenue and Paulding Road just before 4:35 a.m. Sunday after a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Curry inside a vehicle suffering from serious gunshot injuries.

Emergency medical crews were dispatched to the scene, but Curry was pronounced dead before he could be transported to a hospital. Police secured the area and began a homicide investigation. Investigators have not released details about how many shots were fired or where Curry may have been shot, noting that the investigation is still in its early stages.

Police said it was not immediately clear what led to the shooting. Detectives are working to piece together Curry’s final moments and determine whether the shooting occurred at that location or elsewhere. Authorities are reviewing evidence and seeking surveillance footage from the surrounding area that could provide clues about what happened.

The Sunday morning homicide was one of two separate death investigations handled by Fort Wayne police over the weekend. The first occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, when officers were called to the Coliseum Inn at 1020 North Coliseum Boulevard. Police said they found a man in need of medical attention at the hotel.

Despite efforts by medics, that man was also pronounced dead. Police have not yet released his identity or said whether foul play was involved in that case. In both the Saturday and Sunday incidents, Fort Wayne police are urging anyone with information to come forward, even anonymously. Investigators say community tips are often critical in helping solve cases and bring answers to families affected by these tragedies.
