PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. — Communities across Prince George County, Sandston, and beyond are mourning the heartbreaking loss of 18-year-old Cristofer Luna Cortes and 18-year-old Jeimey Alexa Gonzalez-Moralez, who were killed early Thursday morning in a devastating crash on Interstate 295. The tragedy, which occurred on November 25, 2025, has left family, friends, and neighbors in deep sorrow as they remember the young couple’s bright spirits and promising futures. Their deaths have shaken everyone who knew them, leaving a void that words can barely describe.
According to the Virginia State Police, the crash happened around 6:22 a.m. in the southbound lanes near the 12-mile marker. A disabled tractor-trailer had been safely parked on the right emergency shoulder when a 2014 Toyota Camry traveling at a high rate of speed suddenly veered off the roadway. The car struck the rear of the trailer with tremendous force. Cristofer, who was driving, and Jeimey, his girlfriend and closest companion, died at the scene. Investigators say speed was a major contributing factor, and the impact was so severe that neither teen had a chance for survival.
Authorities confirmed that the tractor-trailer driver, Keith Holloway of Philadelphia, was not at fault, despite early confusion at the scene. Holloway had taken proper safety steps after pulling over, and police continue to investigate the remaining details of the crash. While officials work to piece together what happened, loved ones are left with the far deeper challenge of coping with an unimaginable loss that no investigation can ease.
Those who knew Cristofer and Jeimey say they were much more than names in a tragic news report. Cristofer was remembered for his gentle soul, hardworking nature, and quiet strength that made people feel comfortable around him. At only 18, he held hopes for his future—dreams of new opportunities, personal growth, and shared memories with the girl he loved. His absence leaves behind an ache that cannot be measured.
Jeimey, also 18, was known for her radiant personality and the joy she brought into every room. Her family and friends describe her as warm, loving, compassionate, and full of life. Her laughter was contagious, her smile unforgettable, and her dreams bold. She lived each day with a heartfelt energy that lifted the spirits of those around her, and her love for Cristofer was clear to everyone who saw them together.
Together, the young couple shared a bond built on love, shared dreams, and the excitement of their futures. They supported one another, grew together, and faced life hand in hand. Their loss, felt across the community, is a painful reminder of how fragile life can be. As loved ones cling to their memories, they pray for strength, healing, and peace. Cristofer and Jeimey may be gone too soon, but their light will continue to shine through the hearts of all who knew them.
