NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A 19-year-old motorcyclist, Daniel Poole of Orlinda, Tennessee, has died following a tragic crash Thursday morning on Gallatin Pike North. The Metro Nashville Police Department confirmed Poole’s identity and released initial details about the incident, which involved multiple vehicles and remains under investigation.
The crash occurred along the 1500 block of Gallatin Pike North as Poole was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound. According to Metro Police, the driver of a Honda Accord attempted to cross the southbound lanes of traffic to access a Pep Boys store. In doing so, the car sideswiped Poole’s motorcycle, causing him to lose control.
The impact threw Poole into the northbound lanes of Gallatin Pike, where he was struck by two additional vehicles traveling in the opposite direction. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported him to Skyline Medical Center, but despite life-saving efforts, Poole was later pronounced dead from his injuries.
Police say that none of the drivers involved appeared to be impaired by alcohol or drugs. Preliminary findings indicate that the failure of the Honda driver to yield while crossing traffic was the leading cause of the crash. No charges have been filed yet, and the investigation is ongoing as officials continue reviewing evidence and speaking to witnesses.
Authorities have not released the identities of the other drivers involved or said whether speed, distraction, or weather conditions may have played a role. Investigators are also checking nearby surveillance footage to better understand the sequence of events that led to the collision.
The fatal crash has brought renewed focus to motorcycle safety and the risks riders face, particularly on busy roads like Gallatin Pike. Advocates are reminding drivers to always check thoroughly before making turns and to be aware of smaller vehicles that may be harder to see.
Daniel Poole’s death has left his family and community devastated. At just 19 years old, he was beginning his adult life, and his sudden passing is being mourned by friends, loved ones, and fellow motorcyclists. The Metro Nashville Police Department continues to urge anyone with information about the crash to contact them as they work to ensure a full and fair investigation.
