According to the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD), officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of Saratoga Boulevard around 4:49 a.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. When first responders arrived, they found Johnson lying in the roadway with severe injuries. Life-saving measures were immediately initiated, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite their best efforts, Johnson was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

Investigators determined that Johnson had been crossing Saratoga Boulevard outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by a westbound vehicle. The driver, who remained at the scene, cooperated fully with police during the investigation. Officials have stated that no signs of impairment were detected, and no charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.

Traffic in the area near Weber Road and Saratoga Boulevard was temporarily closed while the CCPD Traffic Division conducted a detailed examination of the crash site. The roadway reopened around 8:30 a.m. after investigators completed their evidence collection and scene documentation. Officers also reviewed surveillance footage and spoke with nearby witnesses to better understand the moments leading up to the collision.

Senior Officer Antonio Contreras used the tragic incident as an opportunity to remind residents about pedestrian safety. “Pedestrian awareness and caution are critical for everyone,” Contreras said. “Whether you’re walking or driving, staying alert can prevent tragedies like this.” He urged pedestrians to always use marked crosswalks and ensure visibility, especially during early morning or nighttime hours when drivers may have limited sight.

The passing of Brodrick Johnson has left a profound void in the Corpus Christi community. Those who knew him remember his warmth, generosity, and genuine care for others. As family and friends mourn his loss, authorities continue to investigate the incident and encourage anyone with additional information to contact the Corpus Christi Police Department.
