Authorities in Killeen have identified the man who was fatally shot during a violent incident early Sunday morning on Blake Street. The Killeen Police Department confirmed the victim as 25-year-old Vincent Abenoyap Mbo, a resident of Killeen. The incident, which unfolded around 3:10 a.m. on November 2, prompted a major police response involving tactical units and SWAT officers.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of gunfire. As they arrived, a man ran from the residence, warning officers that someone inside had been shot. While police attempted to assess the situation, gunfire was directed at them from inside the home, forcing officers to take cover and call for backup.

The Killeen Police Tactical Response Unit and SWAT were activated to safely manage the standoff. Upon breaching the residence, officers discovered Mbo near the entrance suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. As they worked to provide aid, a 36-year-old man inside the home allegedly continued firing at police. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect, who was later transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.

Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Mbo was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities described the situation as “active and dangerous,” noting the speed at which the event escalated. The officer who fired at the suspect has been placed on administrative leave, a standard procedure following officer-involved shootings. The Bell County District Attorney’s Office and Killeen Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division are jointly investigating the circumstances surrounding the exchange of gunfire and the events leading up to the tragedy.

Police have not yet determined a motive for the shooting or the nature of the relationship between Mbo and the suspect. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Killeen Police at (254) 501-8830 or reach out to Bell County Crime Stoppers anonymously.
