Authorities in Birmingham have launched an investigation into a fatal shooting in the northern part of the city that claimed the life of 32-year-old Willie Rasean Raby. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed Raby’s identity early Thursday, marking yet another heartbreaking loss in a year already overwhelmed by violent incidents. His death has stirred renewed concerns among residents who say the community has been plagued by escalating gunfire and unrest.
The shooting occurred around 6:46 p.m. Wednesday in the 2300 block of 33rd Avenue North. When officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on scene, they found Raby suffering from severe gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to UAB Hospital, where doctors worked urgently to save his life. Despite their efforts, Raby did not survive and was pronounced dead at 10:25 p.m., leaving loved ones devastated and the community searching for answers.
