18-Year-Old Tori Bunch killed in Tragic Potter County Crash

A devastating head-on collision early Tuesday morning on State Highway 136 in Potter County, Texas, has left one young woman dead and another teenager seriously injured. Authorities identified the victim as 18-year-old Tori Dakota Bunch of Panhandle, whose life was tragically cut short in the violent crash. The heartbreaking incident has left family members, friends, and the Panhandle community mourning the sudden loss of a young life filled with promise and dreams for the future.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at approximately 5:51 a.m. on May 26, just south of El Rancho Road. Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2016 Ford F-150, driven by 17-year-old Elias Shane Kincanon of Amarillo, was traveling northbound in the southbound lane when it collided head-on with a 2017 Ford Fusion driven by Tori Dakota Bunch. The wrong-way collision caused catastrophic damage to both vehicles and triggered an intense emergency response during the early morning hours.

Authorities said the impact of the crash was so severe that the Ford F-150 caught fire shortly afterward. Before the flames could fully engulf the pickup truck, several bystanders rushed to help. Officials described them as Good Samaritans who acted quickly and courageously to pull the teenage driver from the burning vehicle, likely saving his life. Their actions unfolded amid dangerous conditions as smoke and flames surrounded the wreckage.

Elias Shane Kincanon was transported by ambulance to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, where he remains under medical care for serious injuries. Despite the efforts of first responders, Tori Dakota Bunch was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries. Her passing has left loved ones devastated as they struggle to process the sudden and heartbreaking tragedy.

Investigators confirmed that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, but the force of the impact caused severe destruction to both vehicles involved. Authorities also reported that a secondary crash happened shortly after the initial collision when another southbound vehicle struck the disabled Ford F-150. Fortunately, no additional injuries were reported in that incident.

As investigators continue working to determine what caused the Ford F-150 to enter the wrong lane, the Texas Department of Public Safety says the case remains under active investigation. Meanwhile, the tragedy serves as a painful reminder of how quickly lives can change on the roadway. One family is now grieving the unimaginable loss of Tori Dakota Bunch, while another continues hoping for healing and recovery as a teenage driver fights through serious injuries.
